Accelerated identification of Yandex.Money in Ukraine

For many webmasters working with ad networks, Yandex delivered a surprise and gave them several weeks to move all their sites to a direct contract with the Yandex Advertising Network (YAN).

There is nothing wrong with that in itself. However, if you are not an individual entrepreneur (IE) and live in Russia, you simply cannot work with YAN. The whole point of moving all webmasters to direct contracts is to legalize their income and pay taxes. Until you provide all the required information and documents, your sites will not earn a penny, and the ad blocks will not be displayed.

However, since I live in Ukraine, I cannot have an IE in Russia and therefore cannot work with YAN. There is another option for residents of Ukraine and other countries: an identified account in the Yandex.Money payment system. In this case, you need to sign a service agreement "Yandex Europe AG", while Russian residents should switch to the agreement with "Yandex LLC".

1. Why is identification needed, and who needs it?

I already gave one example above. For webmasters who monetize their sites through the Yandex Advertising Network, identification is a mandatory requirement.

Residents of Ukraine, Belarus, and other countries are essentially not allowed to use a Yandex wallet. I ran into this about two weeks before starting the procedure. A client suggested sending money to my Yandex.Money wallet. I agreed, and the transfer went through, but I was never able to receive the money (

When I clicked the payment button, Yandex redirected me to an identity verification page. After I filled in the fields (full name, passport number, issuing authority, and so on), I was supposed to receive a personal account (which is one level below an identified account).

Unfortunately, when I entered my passport series and number, I got an error. If I remember correctly, 10 characters were required, while our passports have only 8 characters (2 letters and 6 digits). In other words, the money was frozen for a month and should have been returned to the sender after 30 days. Fortunately, I completed everything sooner and eventually received the money.

Are these the only benefits that make wallet identification necessary? Let’s look at Yandex’s information and highlight the points that matter most to us.

1. Your identified-user status will be visible to everyone who sends you money.

2. If your wallet is hacked and all the money is stolen, you have 24 hours to report it to support, and your money will be returned.

3. You can collect donations (you have probably seen these buttons on websites).

4. With a MasterCard from Yandex.Money, you can withdraw money from any ATM, which is very convenient.

5. The withdrawal, payment, and transfer limits increase to 100,000, 250,000, and 400,000, respectively.

That’s reason enough to complete the procedure 😉

2. How and where to complete it?

At first, I wanted to tell you how I did it, but there are several methods, and one of them may be more convenient for you.

• 3. Submit a simplified application
• 4. Send a notarized application by mail

Now let’s look at each option in more detail.

1. Credit history verification through Equifax

This method is available to residents of Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia. You can complete the verification online if you have applied for a loan at any bank in Russia; the application status does not matter (that is, you can still complete the verification even if your application was rejected).

2. Copy identification from another wallet

If you have several wallets in the Yandex.Money system and one of them was identified by visiting an office, sending a notarized application by mail, or using an agent, you can copy its passport details. Within a few minutes, the new wallet will receive the identified status.

Please note that you can activate a maximum of 10 wallets using the same passport details.

3. Submit a simplified application

If you have sent any documents to Yandex, including a phone number link request, you may be able to complete the simplified identification procedure.

The following requirements must be met:

• Your personal data has not changed
• The account has not changed
• The application was sent after May 2007.

4. Send a notarized application by mail

This method is suitable for people who live in remote areas and cannot travel to Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, and so on.

Fill out the application, make photocopies of your passport, and certify your signature at a notary's office.

Then go to the nearest post office and send it to:

By mail — 119021, Moscow, P.O. box 57, LLC NCO Yandex.Money.

By courier — to the Moscow office of Yandex.Money (18B Lev Tolstoy St.).

Please note, you need to certify the signature itself, not the application or scans.

The worst part of this method is the time it takes and the Russian Post 🙂

How long will the whole process take?

If you go to the post office right after visiting the notary and send all the documents, you will have to wait 7-14 days for them to reach the recipient. If you receive an SMS or track the package online and see the message "Delivered to recipient," it means that your package has arrived and Yandex employees have started processing the data, which will take another up to 20 business days or a whole month if you count weekends and holidays.

About ~45 days in total

Saying that this is a long time would be an understatement—and what if the documents get lost?

This identification method is suitable for people who are not in a hurry. Decide for yourself whether it is worth it.

5. Use an agent's services (Recommended)

As expected, I saved the most convenient and fastest method for last. The rest of this article will focus on it, so if you chose one of the options above, you can stop reading here, except for chapter 6 where I have listed possible questions and important details.

I went through identification this way myself and can share my experience with you. In most cases, it is the most practical option, since most of us have not taken out loans in Russia, sent documents to Yandex, or are willing to wait a month and a half.

How long do you have to wait?

From 3 to 10 days if the documents are immediately handed over to the agent.

How does it work?

There is a popular exchange office called "Obmenka.ua" — it is Yandex.Money's official representative in Ukraine. You can complete identification through it very quickly, without unnecessary paperwork or waiting in line.

Obmenka agents are available in the following cities (it is best to check their website, as they are currently opening offices across the country): Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Lviv, Kherson.

You need to fill out the documents at home and bring them to the nearest agent. I explain the process in more detail below. If you decide to use an agent, go to the Obmenka.ua website, register, and proceed to the next steps.

3. Preparing the required documents

If you decide to complete identification through an Obmenka agent, first complete the quick registration process and sign in to the website

1. After opening your account, click the "Yandex identification" button:

2.1. Open it and enter your wallet number in the "Electronic wallet number" field.
2.2. Print 3–4 copies (you only need 2but you might ruin a couple)
2.3. Fill out the application by hand and scan it or take good photos, as I did :)

3. Now fill out all the required fields on the Obmenka website:

3.1. Upload the scanned application from step 2.3.2. Scan or take high-quality photos of pages 1, 2, and 11 of your passport and upload them.
3.3. If you do not upload the scans right away, the identification process will take longer.

4. Click the continue button

5. The text "Payment pending" will now appear below instead of the "Yandex identification" button. Add your payment wallets in your account right away (for example, WebMoney), and then pay the 100 UAH service fee. You can use any convenient payment method, such as Privat24 or WebMoney.

6. After the payment is completed successfully (it took about 2 minutes for my status to change), call +38 (063) 947 43 90 and say that you have paid for everything.

They reminded me once again to bring all the documents and asked when I could hand the package over to the agent in Dnipropetrovsk (choose the nearest city). I told the woman that I could hand over the documents the day after tomorrow, and also found out the exact business hours, so I would not arrive and "kiss the door"

7. Gather all the documents again before going to the agent:

• 2 handwritten applications
• Scans of passport pages 1, 2, and 11
• Bring your passport (for identity verification)
• Write down the application number and give it to the agent later *

In my case, it was "777".

Review everything from step 7 once again, so you don't forget anything, put it all in a file, and go to the agent.

4. Meeting with the agent and submitting the documents

If you live in one of the cities where "Обменка" already operates, take the nearest bus to the required meeting point.

For example, I had to travel 2.5 hours one way and the same amount of time back, for a total of 5 hours on the road. But I don't regret it: Dnipropetrovsk is a beautiful city where my wife and I had a great time walking around and relaxing. As they say, there are pros everywhere—you just have to see them 😉

Go to the required location. If there is no line, enter the office, give all the documents to the agent, provide the application number, sign the form, and leave.

I spent a maximum of two minutes, in the office, but it took me almost 3 hours to get there ) Now wait for the entire procedure to finish. To do this, periodically check your wallet (once a day)

5. Completing Yandex.Money identity verification

Go to the wallet's home page until you see a message like this:

Start checking your information to make sure there are no errors:

If everything is correct, click the "Yes, this information is correct" button and enjoy the result:

A checkmark icon will now appear next to the account number, and the identity verification card will become active, along with all its benefits.

6. Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Question: How long does identity verification take?

Answer: It depends on the verification method. Verification through an agent takes 3 days or more, while verification by mail takes about 20 days.

Question: What should I do if I'm under 18?

Answer: You can attend the meeting with your parents and bring your passport. Alternatively, have the client form and passport scans notarized and send the documents by mail. Your parents will also need to provide the required documents.

Question: Is a passport the only document accepted for identity verification?

Answer: Any document from this list will work:

You cannot use a driver's license, birth certificate, or a photocopy of your passport.

7. Summary

The most important thing is to choose the verification method that works best for you. If you choose an agent, do the following:

1. Register with Обменка
2. Fill in all fields, including your full name, passport number, and so on.
3. Download the form, enter your wallet number, and print 3–4 copies.
4. Fill out this form twice
5. Scan your passport (pages 1, 2, and 11)
6. Upload all scans to the website
7. Pay 100 UAH
8. Call Обменка.ua
9. Bring all the documents and your passport
10. Go to the agent and give them the documents
11. Wait for the message to appear in your wallet
12. Verify the information
